Tehran, Ashgabat to discuss developing Turkmenistan’s gas field

TEHRAN (ISNA) - Iran’s National Gas Company (INGC) Managing Director stepped in Turkmenistan Tuesday morning for talks on Iran’s cooperation in expansion of Turkmenistan’s gas field.
The two sides have already concluded an agreement according to which Iran will invest in one of Turkmenistan’s gas fields. The field was specified during the last round of talks last month in Tehran.On January 31st last year the two sides also acceded on a 6-month price agreement for buying and selling gas and developing a Turkmenistan’s gas field located near Iranian border.
Iran’s investment in the project will increase the amount of the country’s imported natural gas from Turkmenistan.
Iran’s Oil Ministry has sought joint oil, gas and petrochemical projects with neighboring countries. It has also made it clear for other countries that it is ready for projects including designing and building gas and oil lines and refineries.
